KEENAN RIDGWAY AND SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN LINCOLNSHIRE
Keenan Ridgway, a 21-year-old man from Lincolnshire, has been sentenced to a total of six years and three months in prison for a series of heinous crimes involving the sexual abuse of a four-year-old girl and the proliferation of thousands of indecent images of children online.Ridgway's troubling activities came to light following an extensive investigation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) which began in August 2021.
The investigation was triggered after Ridgway transmitted disturbing video and image material to another offender who was subsequently arrested in Miami.
This international connection prompted authorities to delve deeper into Ridgway’s online activities.
Through forensic analysis, investigators matched the illicit images and videos uploaded to a file-sharing platform in 2018 to Ridgway’s digital footprint.
The NCA pinpointed him as the individual behind the account responsible for this material.
FWhe operation led to Ridgway's arrest at his residence in Skegness, where law enforcement officers confiscated his mobile phone for examination.
A detailed analysis of the confiscated device revealed it was indeed used to create the abusive content, matching the digital fingerprints observed on the platform uploads.
The investigation further uncovered that Ridgway’s phone had documented his movements on the night several of the videos were filmed, placing him physically at the scene of the abuse.
Additionally, authorities recovered various items of his clothing, some of which appeared in the disturbing footage.
The data extraction from Ridgway’s phone disclosed an alarming volume of illegal material.
He had uploaded a staggering 450 gigabytes of content, which included nearly 30,000 indecent images of children, categorized from A to C for severity.
Among these, 42 images depicted the four-year-old girl.
Further recovery efforts retrieved 355 additional indecent images stored on his device.
Investigations also revealed that Ridgway communicated with another online user prior to the abuse incident, claiming to have sent all existing videos and promising to produce new material soon, promising the recipient that they would be the first to receive such content.
Ridgway faced multiple serious charges: 16 counts in total.
These included three counts of sexual assault of a child, three counts of taking and three counts of possessing indecent images of children, six counts of distributing such images, and possession of prohibited imagery.
He admitted guilt on all charges during his court proceedings and was subsequently sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court.
His penalties include a prison term of six years and three months, lifetime registration on the sex offenders register, and a 10-year order designed to prevent future sexual harm.
Martin Ludlow of the National Crime Agency emphasized the severity of Ridgway’s crimes, stating, “His actions have caused trauma to those involved, the impact of which may be felt long after he has served his sentence.
The NCA has the niche capabilities to identify high-risk offenders like Ridgway who pose a sexual threat to children and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure they are identified and brought to justice.”
