KATIE MCCAFFERTY FROM DUNFERMLINE SENTENCED AFTER ASSAULTING PARTNER
A woman from Dunfermline, Katie McCafferty, reacted violently after discovering her partner playing video games again.McCafferty, who had been drinking, slapped her partner and bit his arm when he attempted to call the police.
She appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face charges.
She admitted that on January 4 at Law Road in Dunfermline, she assaulted her partner by repeatedly hitting him on the head with her hand and biting his arm, causing injury.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf explained that the couple had been in a three-year relationship, and an argument broke out around 9.45pm.
McCafferty left her flat but returned shortly after.
The depute stated, “She wasn’t happy and slapped the complainer a couple of times.
He called the police, and when he was on the phone, the accused tried to take the phone from him and bit him on the forearm.
It was later confirmed that he had a bite mark on his arm.” Defence solicitor Elaine Buist explained that McCafferty's frustration stemmed from her partner’s gaming habits and that she had also consumed alcohol and had not eaten for two days at that time.
Sheriff Francis Gill acknowledged that this was McCafferty’s first offence and postponed her sentencing until April 19, giving her an opportunity to maintain good behaviour.
