KASEY ROLFE OF BASINGSTOKE JAILED FOR OVER FIVE YEARS FOR ATTEMPTED SEXUAL ENCOUNTER WITH UNDERAGE GIRL
A man from Basingstoke, Kasey Rolfe, aged 40, was sentenced to more than five years in prison after being caught by paedophile hunters for attempting to incite sexual activity with teenagers.Rolfe, who resides at Holyrood Court, had contacted what he believed to be three teenage girls via Facebook Messenger, quickly steering the conversations toward sexual topics.
On August 14 this year, he messaged a 13-year-old girl from Liverpool, asking her certain questions before requesting an indecent image.
On the same day, he also communicated with another girl, aged 14, from Cardiff.
During court proceedings at Winchester Crown Court, prosecutor Jane Terry explained: “He began speaking to her the following day, telling her she is stunning and wishing he was older so he could take her out.” Rolfe then promised the girl he would take her out when she turned 16 and attempted to call her, but instead received a photo of her posing, to which he replied with a photograph.
Additionally, Rolfe contacted a 14-year-old girl from Romford on August 3.
Although he did not receive a response until August 15, it was revealed that each of these conversations was with a paedophile hunting group or online child protection organization operating the accounts.
On August 18, an arrangement was made for Rolfe to meet a woman in Basingstoke for a purported "sexual encounter." However, he was met by members of the online protection team instead.
During the confrontation, Rolfe claimed he was “being pinned against the wall” and denied any contact with underage girls.
The entire encounter was live-streamed on the internet.
Rolfe had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including causing a child to look at sexual images, three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and three counts of attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.
In mitigation, lawyer Gemma White argued: “He was detained for over an hour in an intimidating and aggressive manner by a group of individuals who, in my view, acted outside the law.” She also highlighted that the live-streaming had significantly affected Rolfe as well as his children.
The court was informed that Rolfe has a history of substance misuse, but he has been in custody undergoing detoxification.
Delivering the sentence, Mr.
Recorder D Tait stated: “These engagements were clearly sexual and involved various sexual suggestions to people you believed were under 16.
There is no doubt you were seeking sexual contact with girls under the age of 16.” Kasey Rolfe was sentenced to five years and four months in prison and will be subject to lifelong notification requirements.
