Brighton Child Sexual Abuser
A man from Sussex named Karim Evans, also known as Kaz, has been sentenced for possessing child pornography on his mobile phone and iPad. He is 47 years old and resides at Regency House, Western Road, Brighton. Evans was arrested at a location in Burgess Hill last year. During court proceedings, it was revealed that Evans had claimed he was locked out of his email account and denied viewing or transmitting child pornography. However, he has already admitted guilt, including on a charge of possessing extreme pornography. The prosecution highlighted the severity of the offences by describing the content, which involved very young children - ages six to eight in one 'category A' film, which includes extremely graphic and illegal acts such as baby rape and child torture, and older children aged 10 to 13 in other illicit films. The judge, Jeremy Gold, sentenced Evans to nine months in prison suspended for 18 months and ordered him to attend 20 rehabilitation sessions. Additionally, Evans was required to register as a sex offender for 10 years, and a sexual harm prevention order was put in place. The judge also ordered Evans to complete 150 hours of unpaid community work and pay £1,630 toward prosecution costs. His mobile phone and tablet were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed. The court portrayed Evans as having a good reputation but concluded that his offending warranted significant legal consequences.
