KANE GUNTER FROM BARMOUTH AND KNUTSFORD FACES JAIL FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND INDECENT IMAGES

In a serious case heard at Chester Crown Court, Kane Gunter, a 56-year-old man currently residing at Woodland Lodge in Barmouth, has admitted to multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of minors and the possession of indecent images. The court proceedings took place on Wednesday, October 20, and Gunter chose to speak only to confirm his identity and to enter guilty pleas to the charges presented against him.

Gunter's criminal conduct involved two young boys from Knutsford, with the youngest victim being only 13 years old at the time of the offenses. The charges against him include nine counts of sexual activity with minors, which span over several years. The earliest incident was between April 9 and April 11, 2016, during which Gunter admitted to engaging in sexual acts with one of the boys. He also acknowledged five additional charges involving the same victim, with the most recent incident occurring in 2018 when the boy was just 15 years old.

Furthermore, Gunter admitted to three counts of sexual activity with another boy aged 15, with these offenses taking place between March and August of 2018. These admissions highlight a pattern of predatory behavior over a period of years, involving minors who were particularly vulnerable due to their age.

In addition to the sexual offense charges, Gunter pleaded guilty to four counts related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children. These included three separate charges for making indecent images classified under categories A, B, and C, as well as a single count for possessing a total of 75 indecent images across these categories. The images depicted minors in various compromising and illegal situations, further emphasizing the severity of his crimes.

Judge Everett, who presided over the case, made it clear that Gunter's actions warranted a custodial sentence. Despite this, he granted Gunter conditional bail, which includes a night-time curfew, allowing him to remain out of custody until his sentencing hearing. Gunter is scheduled to return to Chester Crown Court on November 25 for his sentencing, where the full extent of his punishment will be determined based on the gravity of his offenses and his guilty pleas.
