Kalib Morris, held at HMP Altcourse and previously incarcerated at Ellesmere Port, appeared before Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, 26 March, where he was sentenced to 37 months in prison.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to several charges, including controlling and coercive behavior, three counts of assault by beating, criminal damage, and theft.

Between 2023 and 2024, Morris subjected a former partner to both physical and psychological abuse.

His actions involved controlling and monitoring her mobile phone usage, dictating her clothing choices, deciding when she could communicate with or see her family, taking her money, and engaging in verbal and physical abuse.

He also checked her movements and harmed her pet dog.

On one occasion, Morris verbally abused her and physically grabbed her face, biting her hand when she tried to free herself.

On another incident, the victim left her home while Morris remained inside.

When she returned, she discovered that Morris had vandalized her television, thrown rubbish, and scattered her clothing and belongings throughout the residence.

The victim contacted police, leading to Morris's arrest.

He was released on bail with strict conditions not to contact her, but he continued their relationship, creating a sense of entrapment for the victim.

During this period, Morris assaulted her again by throwing a TV remote control at her.

On a different occasion, she called the police after Morris pulled her hair, forced her to the floor, and stole her phone.

Following a comprehensive investigation, Morris was arrested once more and charged with the respective offences.
