KAI HUSTON AND SHOCKING CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT IN MANCHESTER AND SALFORD

On a summer afternoon in Salford, Manchester, a disturbing incident unfolded involving 21-year-old Kai Huston, who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy.

The young victim was out riding his bike near his home when the assault occurred, highlighting a troubling breach of safety in a residential area.

According to court proceedings, the boy’s bike had broken down, and Huston approached him offering assistance.

During their interaction, Huston asked the child, "if I fix this for you, will you do something for me?" before committing the sexual assault.

The Manchester Crown Court heard that Huston’s actions were predatory and calculated, taking advantage of the boy’s vulnerability.

The incident took place in a quiet neighborhood street in Salford, a city within Greater Manchester.

The child was at home on a Thursday afternoon in July, a day when schools were on strike, allowing him to be outside.

While riding his bike, the chain unexpectedly snapped, leaving him stranded.

Huston, who had arrived nearby in an Uber, approached the boy and then led him to a more secluded alleyway, ostensibly to help fix the bike.

Once in the alley, Huston crouched down and put his arms around the young boy, touching him inappropriately on his lower back and around the bottom area.

During this distressing encounter, Huston asked the boy, "don't go anywhere," and inquired, "if I help you with this chain, will I get something back?" He also questioned, "if I fix this for you, will you do something for me?" The court was told that Huston had asked the boy his age, to which he responded that he was just 12.

The child, frightened and overwhelmed, attempted to leave the scene.

As he tried to run away, Huston grabbed him by his T-shirt, but the boy managed to break free and escape.

The police were promptly alerted to the incident, and Huston was soon apprehended.

Huston’s criminal history includes a prior arrest in July 2021, when he was found to have uploaded a Category A indecent image of a child on Snapchat, the most serious classification of such material.

Although he was caught at that time, he was released under investigation, which allowed him to remain free for a period.

Two years later, he committed the sexual assault on the 12-year-old boy.

During the court hearing, Huston’s defense, represented by Hugh Barton, argued that his initial motivations for approaching the boy were 'entirely innocent.' Barton emphasized that Huston’s actions were not part of a pattern of targeting children but were influenced by his own vulnerabilities.

The defense highlighted that Huston has been diagnosed with autism and described his childhood as 'desperately difficult,' portraying him as a 'vulnerable' and 'damaged' individual.

Huston, a resident of Salford, pleaded guilty to charges of distributing an indecent image of a child and sexually assaulting a minor.

The judge, Alan Conrad KC, declared him a 'dangerous' offender, which has significant implications for his incarceration and monitoring.

As part of his sentence, Huston was ordered to serve two-thirds of a four-year prison term before being released on license, during which he will be subject to strict supervision for an additional two years.

Furthermore, he was mandated to sign the sex offender register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
