Kadian Nelson

London Sexual Abuser

August 2021 Man who raped girl on her way to school jailed A man who kidnapped and raped a 13-year-old girl as she made her way to school has received a 20-year sentence. Sex predator Kadian Nelson forced her into an alley in Mitcham, south-west London, on 3 November, Kingston Crown Court heard. The girl was speaking to a friend on the phone when Nelson placed a hand “incredibly tightly” around her mouth. Part of Nelson’s sentence related to a separate domestic-related assault which took place on 11 October and for which he was previously convicted. Police were called shortly after 07:00hrs on Tuesday, 3 November 2020 after a member of the public saw Nelson grab the 13-year-old girl in North Place, Mitcham. He had crept up on her from behind as she walked to school before forcing her into an alleyway in a housing estate, where he then attacked her. Nelson was chased off mid-attack after a girl, 10, saw him snatch his victim. Nelson fled the scene, leaving the victim cloaked in his jacket, which he had draped over her. He was caught after being recognised in footage put on social media. Prosecutor Nneka Akudolu said the defendant had been “prowling around” while wearing a pair of rubber gloves shortly before he grabbed his victim. “The call was still connected to her friend and the girl could be heard saying to the defendant: ‘I’ll pay you, take all my money, take all my belongings, just leave me alone’,” Ms Akudolu said. The ordeal was interrupted by a member of the public, who went to check what had happened. Nelson claimed the victim was his sister and tried to walk away with her, but the woman continued to follow and filmed Nelson and the victim on her mobile phone. Nelson then fled the scene, leaving the victim cloaked in his jacket, which he had draped over her. Police attended and an area search was conducted, but he was not found. An investigation was started immediately, led by the South West Public Protection Unit. In the meantime, a video of Nelson approaching and abducting the victim began to circulate on social media, provoking a fierce reaction from the public. A number of groups of people began to search for Nelson at his, and some of his relatives home addresses, and there were serious police concerns that he would be physically harmed. The 13-year-old girl appeared at the hearing to read her impact statement. She said the attack had affected her “ability to do very simple everyday things now, such as go to school or be able to be independent”. Nelson, from Tooting, previously pleaded guilty to rape, kidnap and threats to kill. The court heard he had previous convictions for drugs offences and making threats with an offensive weapon. In mitigation, Nelson’s solicitor said the 26-year-old had no previous convictions for sexual offences. Judge John Lodge gave Nelson a sentence made up of a 12-year jail term and an extension period of eight years, adding that “this shameful and shocking incident could have been even worse” but for the intervention of the two witnesses. April 2021 Pervert, 27, pleads guilty after kidnapping girl, 13, and raping her in horrific attack as she walked to school A vile pervert has pleaded guilty after kidnapping a 13-year-old girl and raping her in an alleyway. The young girl was walking to school in Mitcham, London when she was targeted in the horrific attack in November last year. Kadian Nelson, 27, today admitted kidnap, rape and making a threat to kill  at Kingston Crown Court. The court heard he followed the schoolgirl before creeping up behind her and putting one hand over her mouth and another on her head.  He then threatened to kill her and forced her to walk towards an alleyway in Mitcham.  The girl had been on the phone chatting to a friend about their homework when she was attacked just after 7am. Nelson told her to take off her coat and school blazer before orally raping her. He then put his own jacket on the victim. Police were alerted when a woman called 999 stating that her daughter had seen a man grab a young girl.  A family member of the woman then went out to check what had happened and managed to interrupt Nelson.  When she questioned him he told her that the victim was his sister.  The victim then managed to signal that she needed help before police arrived and Nelson fled, leaving the victim wearing his jacket. Kate Shilton, from the CPS, said: “This was a terrifying stranger attack on a young girl on her way to school. “The prosecution was able to present compelling evidence that made clear that it was Kadian Nelson who had carried out this sickening attack.  “The prosecution case included video footage and DNA evidence from the lighter and tobacco pouch found inside Nelson’s jacket pocket, which he left behind.  “The victim was also able to identify him in an ID parade. These guilty pleas will mean that Nelson’s young victim will be spared the ordeal of giving evidence in court. “I would like to thank the members of the family who saw what happened and took quick action in alerting the police to the incident.  “The young victim has shown remarkable courage during these proceedings and I hope this conviction will go some way to providing her with closure. “Sexual offences are some of the most serious and complex cases to prosecute.  “The CPS is committed to bringing sexual offenders to justice where there is the evidence to do so.” At the time of the attack Scotland Yard were forced to warn people not to “take the law into their own hands” after the case gained traction on social media. Crowds of locals visited various addresses and police said “emotions are running high”. The Met issued an emergency Section 60 dispersal order – giving officers the power to search anyone and instruct them to leave the area. Nelson was arrested just hour after the attack in Tooting. He will be sentenced at the same court on August 13.
