In April 2021, a disturbing case involving Julian Collins, a resident of Shrewsbury, came to light through the efforts of online paedophile hunters.
Collins, aged 44, engaged in a sinister attempt to meet a 15-year-old boy for sexual activity after initiating contact via a dating app.
The decoy, operating under the alias 'Rob,' was part of a paedophile hunting group that had set up a fake profile on Grindr in January 2020 to catch predators.
The court heard that on January 30, 2020, Collins sent a message to the decoy, asking how old he was.
