Basildon Domestic Abuser Emotional/Psychological
Joshua Robinson has been sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to making death threats and engaging in coercive and controlling conduct following the death of Charlotte Randall. Charlotte was discovered unconscious at an address in Elsenham Crescent, Basildon, Essex, on March 10, and was hospitalized. Sadly, she died four days later from her injuries. Robinson, then aged 32 and of no fixed residence, was detained by Essex Police on March 14. He subsequently pleaded guilty at Basildon Crown Court and was sentenced to four years for making death threats, with an additional two-year sentence for controlling and coercive behavior, to be served concurrently. A restraining order lasting ten years was also issued against him. Essex Police described the case as challenging and upsetting for Charlotte's loved ones, with Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe emphasizing that coercive and controlling abuse is a particularly cruel form of crime. She commended her officers' dedicated efforts and requested that the family's privacy be respected during this difficult period.
