JOSHUA INGRAM FROM GRIMSBY ESCAPES JAIL AFTER THREATENING TODDLER AND ASSAULTING WOMAN

In November 2017, a disturbing incident unfolded involving Joshua Ingram, an 18-year-old resident of Gilbey Road in Grimsby.

The events came to light after Ingram was brought before Grimsby Crown Court to face serious charges related to violence and threats against a woman and her young child.

During the court proceedings, Ingram admitted to multiple charges, including making threats to kill, assault, and causing criminal damage.

Despite the gravity of these allegations, he managed to avoid immediate imprisonment, receiving a sentence that included a suspended prison term, a ban from contacting his victims, and other court-mandated restrictions.

His supporters gathered outside the courthouse, where Ingram, with a grin on his face, joked and laughed, seemingly unrepentant about his actions.

While still inside the court building, at approximately 12:48 pm, Ingram posted a provocative and disturbing message on his Facebook page.

The post, directed at his victim, read: “Hahaha what a trampy liarr, still laughinggg like alwaysss (sic).” This online comment was made shortly after he had been sentenced but before he left the court premises.

A woman, believed to be a relative, responded to his post with a comment questioning his judgment, saying, “Bit daft writing this don’t you think?” Details of the assault reveal a terrifying episode that took place on May 7 at the victim’s home.

Prosecutor Craig Lowe described how Ingram’s behavior turned violent and aggressive during his visit.

He reportedly shoved the toddler’s head into a wall, causing the child to scream in distress.

Ingram also threatened the woman, warning her that he would go “mad,” and proceeded to destroy property by smashing items and throwing the child’s rocking horse across the room.

The young boy was visibly shaken, crying and trembling from the ordeal.

Ingram’s threats escalated further as he declared his intentions to harm the child and the woman.

He explicitly stated, “I’m going to throw him down the stairs.

I’m going to throw him out of the window,” indicating a clear intent to cause serious harm.

The situation worsened when Ingram retrieved a knife, which he held with apparent anger, shouting, “I’m going to kill you both.

You’re both going to die.” He pressed the knife against the woman’s face and threatened the child directly, saying, “I’m going to kill you.” Following these events, the court sentenced Ingram to a two-year suspended custodial sentence.

Additionally, he was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, adhere to a three-month curfew, undergo two years of supervision, and participate in 30 days of rehabilitation.

A lifelong restraining order was also issued, prohibiting him from making any contact with the mother and her son, aiming to protect them from further harm.

Despite the severity of his actions, the court’s decision reflected a complex balance between punishment and rehabilitation, leaving many to question the adequacy of the sentence given the nature of the threats and violence involved.
