JOSHUA HUNTER FROM FIFE INVOLVED IN SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENSES AND BLACKMAIL SCHEME IN INVERNESS

In a disturbing series of events that have shocked the local communities, Joshua Hunter, a 24-year-old former resident of Dunfermline now living in Fife, has been implicated in a range of serious criminal activities involving sexual offenses and online blackmail.

The case, which unfolded in Inverness, highlights Hunter's disturbing pattern of predatory behavior and exploitation.

It was in March 2019 that Hunter's criminal activities came to light during a court hearing in Edinburgh.

The proceedings revealed that Hunter had posed as a young woman online, luring men and even a schoolboy into his trap.

This deception was part of a broader scheme where Hunter used digital manipulation to entrap victims, some of whom were coerced into sharing explicit images and videos.

Hunter's malicious intent extended to extorting money from these victims, threatening to distribute their private material on social media or to their families if demands were not met.

Further investigations uncovered that Hunter had a more sinister side.

His mobile phone contained footage of him raping a man, an assault that took place after Hunter had taken the victim to his home on Oldtown Road, Inverness, during the early hours of Christmas morning in 2015.

The victim, who had been heavily intoxicated after a night of drinking in Inverness city centre pubs on Christmas Eve, had no recollection of the assault.

According to court reports, the man remembered seeing a naked male crotch near his head before losing consciousness.

When he regained awareness, he found himself dressed and searching for his mobile phone.

His mother later noticed that his jumper was on backwards, indicating he was disoriented and possibly assaulted.

Advocate depute Derick Nelson explained that the victim spent the remainder of Christmas Day confined to his room, anxiously contemplating the events of the previous night.

The situation escalated when, on Boxing Day, a group of women friends in Inverness shared footage of Hunter engaging in sexual acts with the victim.

One of the women contacted the victim directly, asking what had transpired between him and Hunter.

The victim denied any sexual activity, insisting they only shared a taxi.

However, the woman revealed she had seen a video of Hunter having sex with the man.

Disturbed by this revelation, the victim reached out to Hunter, requesting that he delete the video.

Hunter's dismissive response was a simple “Huh,” prompting the victim to contact police authorities.

A subsequent police search of Hunter’s residence led to the seizure of his iPhone, which contained further incriminating footage.

The police recovered images showing Hunter performing sexual acts on the sleeping victim, further confirming Hunter’s guilt.

During the court proceedings, Hunter admitted to assaulting and raping the man while he was intoxicated, unconscious, and unable to consent.

His guilty plea was accepted, and he was formally charged with serious sexual offenses.

The presiding judge, Lord Pentland, acknowledged the gravity of Hunter’s actions and ordered a background report to be prepared before sentencing, which is scheduled for next month.

Hunter was also placed on the sex offenders’ register.

Lord Pentland referenced a previous case involving Hunter, where he was sentenced to four years and four months in prison for a series of crimes committed in Inverness and Dunfermline.

In that case, Hunter had posed as a woman online, encouraging victims to send explicit images and videos, which he then extorted for financial gain.

Over a span of more than two years, Hunter amassed more than £1700 through this scheme and attempted to extort an additional £4000 from another victim.

His criminal activities began as early as 2015, when he targeted a boy aged just 12.

Police investigations also uncovered indecent images of children on Hunter’s devices, leading to a 10-year registration on the sex offenders’ register.

These revelations underscore the severity of Hunter’s criminal conduct and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address such heinous crimes.

The community awaits the upcoming sentencing, which will determine the full extent of Hunter’s punishment for his multiple offenses.
