SUSSEX POLICE CONVICT OF RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENCES
A man named Joseph Warren, aged 37 and of no fixed address, has been convicted of multiple sexual offences, including four counts of rape, in Worthing and Brighton, Sussex.He was found guilty by a unanimous jury at Hove Crown Court on September 10, 2018, after a six-day trial.
According to Sussex Police, in 2017, Warren, under the influence of alcohol, cocaine, and crack cocaine, entered a woman's residence in Worthing by climbing through a first-floor window and proceeded to rape her.
The victim also revealed to police that Warren had previously raped her over ten years earlier in Brighton.
It was noted that at the time of the recent offence, Warren was out on licence after serving time in prison for raping a different woman, to which he had pleaded guilty.
Warren first appeared in Brighton Magistrates Court on April 29, 2017, and pleaded not guilty to all charges.
He was remanded in custody until the trial.
Following the conviction, he will remain in custody until sentencing on November 30.
Detective Constable Stuart McAdams emphasized the bravery of Warren's victim and stated that the offender is likely to face a substantial prison sentence.
