JOSEPH TINKLER SENTENCED IN WOLVERHAMPTON FOR GROSS CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES

A judge described the case as one of the most serious he has encountered.

Joseph Tinkler, a 24-year-old from Wolverhampton Road, Wedges Mills, Cannock, was found to have downloaded thousands of indecent images and videos depicting children as young as six being sexually exploited, with many images showing children being raped.

Police conducted three separate raids on Tinkler’s residence, each time recovering dozens, then thousands, of disturbing images and videos of children being sexually abused or raped by adults.

During court proceedings, prosecutor Jamie Scott provided detailed examples of the content Tinkler had accessed, leading the judge to remark: "I sadly deal with these cases every week but I don't often come across a case as serious as this.

These are some of the most grotesque examples of child abuse, including cases of violent rape." Tinkler appeared before Stafford Crown Court from HMP Dovegate in Marchington on Thursday, February 24, where he pleaded guilty to 11 charges relating to the download of indecent images—totalling thousands—and possession of images related to animal sexual abuse.

The court was told that Tinkler had ignored police warnings on his first and second arrests.

Despite being bailed each time, authorities continued their investigation.

On September 15, 2020, police raided his home and seized an iPhone, a computer tower, and an iPad.

Officer Jamie Scott stated that on his mobile devices, police found 234 Category A images—the most serious classification—along with 307 Category B and 556 Category C images.

The victims ranged from six to 14 years old, with some girls aged between 7 and 10 being raped.

In the computer tower, authorities uncovered 507 Category A videos and 364 images, 228 Category B videos and 327 images, as well as 157 videos and 2,135 images of Category C.

Additionally, police found 67 videos depicting animal sexual abuse and nine related images.

Following his initial arrest, Tinkler did not comment during police interviews and was released on bail.

Further intelligence led police to execute a warrant on April 28, 2021, during which they discovered 25 computer-generated images of children aged between 10 and 12 being raped on his mobile device.

A third warrant was executed on November 4, 2021, revealing more images and videos.

Police also seized messages exchanged between Tinkler and a known paedophile concerning the violent rape of children.

His defense solicitor, Stephen Rudge, explained to the court: "He is fully aware of the seriousness of his actions.

Since his arrest, he has continued to push boundaries, despite legal warnings.

He is a young man who remains immature and has sought sexual solace online through these images, foolishly ignoring police advice and fulfilling his sexual urges." Rudge added: "He hopes to accept the help available to him in prison.

He recognizes it is an addiction and a sickness.

Tinkler is open to change, and with the right guidance, he can reform.

He is a lonely young man without a partner, who has moved on from adult pornography." Tinkler was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

Furthermore, he will be subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, preventing him from accessing internet-enabled devices, and will be required to register as a sex offender.
