BURNLEY MAN ORDERED TO SIGN SEX OFFENDER REGISTER FOR A DECADE FOLLOWING DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR
A man from Burnley has been sentenced to prison for trying to carry out a sexual act with a minor.Joseph Nightingale admitted to the charge during his court appearance at Blackburn Magistrates' Court on July 2.
The 58-year-old resident of Leyland Road received a one-year prison sentence and was also placed under a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Additionally, he was required to register as a sex offender for ten years.
Nightingale's guilty plea was related to his attempt to engage in sexual activity with a child.
SHPOs, which are typically issued for at least five years, are designed to limit certain behaviors of offenders to help prevent future crimes.
