JOSEPH HILTON BODMIN CHILD RAPE HORROR REVEALED IN COURT

In a chilling case that has shocked the community of Bodmin, Cornwall, Joseph Hilton, aged 30, faced a court hearing at Truro Crown Court where he was sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offences involving a young girl under the age of 12. The court was told that Hilton had groomed the victim over a period of a year before subjecting her to multiple acts of abuse, including oral rape and other sexual activities.

Prosecutor Philip Lee detailed the disturbing allegations, revealing that when the victim’s mother noticed her daughter was unusually quiet, she asked her what was wrong. The girl responded with a heartbreaking confession that Hilton had “put his thing in her mouth.” This revelation prompted an immediate police investigation, which led to Hilton’s arrest on Bodmin Moor. During police interviews, Hilton made full admissions, admitting to grooming the girl and describing his actions as a means of “release of tension.”

The court heard that Hilton’s abuse was not limited to a single incident. He had masturbated onto the victim, touched her inappropriately, and raped her orally on at least two occasions. He also described ejaculating onto her stomach, claiming that such acts provided him with a “release of tension.” Prosecutor Lee recounted these details to the court, emphasizing the repeated nature of the abuse and Hilton’s view of the girl as an object for his gratification.

Judge Recorder Andrew Oldland QC addressed the court, stating, “The abuse was repeated and involved two instances of oral rape. When interviewed, you (Hilton) admitted a series of sexual offences. You said you’d been touching your victim, grooming her, and saw her as an object. What started as touching escalated to masturbation to the point of ejaculation.”

Despite the severity of his crimes, Hilton has no previous convictions, and his admissions provided some insight into his offending behavior. The judge sentenced Hilton to 10 years in prison. However, he clarified that Hilton would not be automatically eligible for release at the halfway point, as any potential parole would require approval from the Parole Board.

Earlier in May 2019, Hilton had attempted to deceive the public by claiming that his beloved horse, Ellie, had been stolen from his yard behind Bodmin College. He told a newspaper that the theft was meticulously planned by thieves, and he was “in shock,” noting that the horse’s tack was also stolen. However, the police quickly confirmed that Ellie, an eight-year-old shire mare, was found safe and well, and no crime had been committed. The incident was deemed a civil matter concerning ownership.

Just five months later, Hilton appeared in court again, this time charged with six counts of sexual abuse against a child under 13. He pleaded guilty to two counts of oral rape, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual touching, and two counts of sexual activity with a child. The charges included multiple instances of abuse, with some counts covering at least five separate incidents.

During the hearing, prosecutor Philip Lee expressed concerns about Hilton potentially attempting to flee, noting that he was found alone in a remote spot on Bodmin Moor when the allegations surfaced. The judge, Recorder Malcolm Gibney, ordered Hilton to be remanded in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled for the following month, to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
