JORDAN ROBERTS FROM SHOTTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND EXTREME MOVIES

In June 2016, a disturbing case emerged involving Jordan Roberts, a young man from Shotton, who was found to have developed a troubling obsession with images of child abuse. The investigation was initiated after police received information that an email address linked to Roberts had been used to upload a pornographic image, prompting a visit to his residence in Shotton.

During the police search of Roberts' home, authorities uncovered a collection of highly disturbing material, including numerous images and videos depicting child sex abuse. Roberts, aged 21 at the time, was described as an isolated individual who struggled with social interactions and preferred to communicate with others through his computer rather than face-to-face contact. His online activity had escalated into an addiction, and despite multiple attempts to cease viewing such material, he found himself unable to break free from this compulsive behavior.

At the time of the investigation, Roberts was enrolled as a student at Coleg Cambria in Northop, where he was undertaking a two-year course focused on animal care. However, his personal life and online habits revealed a darker side. Authorities also discovered an extreme movie on his laptop, which depicted sexual acts involving both humans and animals, further highlighting the severity of his online interests.

Roberts, who now resides on Top Llan Road in Glan Conwy, faced multiple charges related to his online activities. He admitted to four counts of making indecent images by downloading them from the internet, two counts of possessing such material, and one count of possessing an extreme movie. The court proceedings revealed that Roberts had been viewing these images and videos over a period of time, primarily for his own sexual gratification.

In sentencing, District Judge Gwyn Jones described the offences as serious and acknowledged the troubling nature of Roberts' actions. He was given a six-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, meaning Roberts would not serve time in custody unless he committed further offences during this period. The judge also ordered Roberts to participate in rehabilitation programs, including one-to-one sessions with the probation service, to address his behavior.

Furthermore, Roberts was mandated to register as a sex offender with the police for the next ten years. A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed for the same duration, restricting his access to certain online content and activities. The judge emphasized that while custody might have been justified given the gravity of the offences, Roberts' lack of prior convictions and his recent efforts to change his life influenced the court's decision.

During the court hearing, prosecutor Justin Espie detailed the extent of Roberts' online activity. Police found 22 Category A movies, six Category B, and one Category C, along with three Category C images and one extreme movie. Roberts admitted that he had been viewing spanking websites for approximately two years, initially engaging with adult content before being directed to chat sites where he interacted with individuals who referred him to sites featuring children being spanked. His online activity progressed to viewing and sharing images and videos of children involved in sexual acts with adults and other minors.

Roberts also disclosed that he had been communicating with teenage girls online, some of whom had sent him images, while he had reciprocated by sending images depicting child abuse. Despite multiple efforts to stop, he repeatedly re-engaged with this harmful material, illustrating the compulsive nature of his behavior. The case highlights the serious concerns surrounding online child exploitation and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat such offences.
