KIERAN FORBES DUNFERMLINE MAN SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AND THREATS AGAINST PARTNER
Kieran Forbes, a 22-year-old resident of Kirkcaldy, has been involved in serious criminal activities in Dunfermline, which have led to his recent sentencing in Dunfermline Sheriff Court.The incidents, which occurred in December 2015, involved allegations of sexual misconduct with underage girls and threats of violence against his partner, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior.
In the first case, Forbes admitted to having engaged in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16 during a visit to a caravan in Dunfermline on December 11 and 12, 2015.
This offense took place at an address in Dunfermline, and notably, Forbes was aware of his legal obligations at the time, as he was already on bail.
The court was informed that Forbes's actions were part of a series of violations, which compounded the severity of his case.
During the proceedings, the court heard that Forbes's behavior was part of a broader context of misconduct.
His defense lawyer, Roshni Joshi, argued that Forbes was attempting to handle the situation responsibly by consulting social workers rather than escalating the conflict with his partner.
She emphasized that Forbes was on a community payback order at the time, and his actions were not intended to cause harm but were instead an attempt to avoid further escalation.
The prosecution highlighted the gravity of the offenses, especially considering Forbes's knowledge of the victims' ages and his awareness of the legal implications.
The court was also told that Forbes had a history of non-compliance with court orders, which influenced the judge's decision.
Judge Charles Macnair sentenced Forbes to a custodial term of 30 weeks, which was to run consecutively to his existing community sentence.
The judge also ordered Forbes to be placed on the sex offenders register and to comply with sexual offenders' notification requirements.
The sentence reflected the seriousness with which the court viewed his actions, especially given the breach of bail conditions and the exploitation of minors.
In addition to the sexual offense case, Forbes faced charges related to threatening behavior towards his partner.
About a year after the initial incident, Forbes appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court again, this time for threatening to assault his partner in front of social workers at New City House on Edgar Street, Dunfermline.
The incident occurred on June 8, when Forbes, aged 24, admitted to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner that was likely to cause fear or alarm.
It was revealed that Forbes had been granted bail on multiple occasions, including January 30 and April 26, with strict conditions that prohibited him from approaching or contacting his partner.
Despite these restrictions, he approached and contacted her on January 29 and April 24, breaching the bail conditions.
Witnesses at the council offices reported that Forbes had expressed intentions to prevent his partner from leaving their home, which he admitted would provoke his anger and lead him to consider violence.
