JORDAN DOUGHTY SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS FOR RAPE IN PETERBOROUGH AND WHITTLESEY
A man named Jordan Doughty has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after being convicted of serious sexual offenses committed in the Peterborough area, specifically in Whittlesey. The incident, which took place in the early hours of January 26, 2020, has left a lasting impact on the victim and has garnered significant attention from law enforcement and the community alike.
According to court records, Doughty, aged 33 at the time, committed the assault at his residence on Woolpack Lane in Whittlesey.
The events unfolded after the victim, having left a bar in Peterborough around 1:30 a.m., was taken to Doughty’s home.
Once there, the woman fell asleep on a sofa, seeking refuge and comfort after a night out.
However, her rest was abruptly disturbed when she awoke to find Doughty lying beside her, engaging in forceful sexual contact.
Despite her immediate protests and attempts to push his hand away, Doughty continued his assault, ignoring her pleas to stop.
The victim, overwhelmed by fear and shock, was unable to resist and was subsequently raped.
After the assault concluded, Doughty got up from the sofa and made a dismissive remark, telling her to “sort yourself out.” In the aftermath of the attack, the woman gathered her belongings and hurriedly left the house, heading to her nearby parked car.
Once inside, she made a distress call to a friend, briefly explaining what had happened, though her emotional state prevented her from speaking at length.
She then drove home, where she received a text message from Doughty around 5 a.m., apologizing with the words, “sorry about that mate.” Shaken and upset, the victim contacted another friend who came to her aid.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the friend advised her to contact the police.
The victim disclosed to officers that this was not the first time Doughty had assaulted her; she revealed that he had raped her on another occasion three years prior.
Law enforcement officials acted swiftly, arresting Doughty at his residence in Farm Road, Boston, a few hours after the incident.
Following a trial held last year, Doughty was found guilty of two counts of rape and assault by penetration.
The case was brought before Cambridge Crown Court, where the judge handed down a sentence of ten years in prison on Thursday, March 21.
Doughty’s conviction and sentencing serve as a stark reminder of the severity of sexual violence and the importance of justice for victims in the Peterborough and Whittlesey communities.
