JORDAN CHAMBERS FROM WALLSEND FACES SERIOUS CHARGES OVER CHILD IMAGE OFFENSES
In November 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving Jordan Chambers, a resident of Wallsend, who was found to possess and download illicit images of children on his mobile device. The police discovered these images during a routine search, leading to a series of serious allegations against the 21-year-old man.
Chambers, who has a prior history of sexual convictions involving minors, made a startling claim during police interviews.
He stated that he kept these vile images on his phone as a means to 'stop himself abusing kids.' According to prosecutors, this explanation was part of his attempt to justify his possession of the indecent images.
The police found three such images on his device, with one classified as particularly severe in nature.
The images were downloaded by Chambers over a period spanning from July 1, 2019, to November 11, 2019.
When questioned about the images, he reportedly told authorities that, following previous offences, he had not received any form of help or psychological support to address his troubling sexual preferences.
He claimed that he was unable to stop himself from viewing these images, which he used as a form of coping mechanism.
Prosecutor Rachael Glover explained to the court that Chambers believed these images served as a substitute for actual contact with children, suggesting that he was either engaging in illegal acts with minors or resorting to viewing illicit material to suppress such urges.
She further revealed that his phone was still under police custody, with a full data download underway.
There was also concern that the images could be stored in iCloud, which Chambers might still access even if he no longer had his phone.
Given the gravity of the offences, magistrates determined that their jurisdiction was insufficient to pass a suitable sentence and therefore referred the case to Newcastle Crown Court.
Chambers is scheduled to appear there on December 11 to face sentencing proceedings, where the full extent of his actions and potential penalties will be addressed.
