TEENAGER JAILED FOR RAPE AFTER FORCING WOMAN TO PERFORM SEX ACT
A teenager named Jordan Barrigan was incarcerated for three years after pleading guilty to the charge of rape.The incident involved forcing a young woman to perform a sex act on him.
The assault took place when Barrigan was 18 years old.
Prosecutor Karl Scholz told Warrington Crown Court that Barrigan made sexual demands toward his victim, which she refused.
Following her refusal, he assaulted her, but she managed to break free and told him to 'get away'.
The offender later contacted her online to apologize but then retracted the apology, suggesting the act was consensual.
During police interview, Barrigan claimed that his victim had willingly participated and that he had stopped when asked, also alleging that someone else wrote the online messages.
The judge, Nicholas Woodward, declined a request for a Sexual Harm Prevention Order but imposed a restraining order and ordered that Barrigan's name be added to the sex offenders register.
He has no previous criminal convictions.
Defense attorney Jeremy Rawson requested leniency, citing Barrigan's young age, a clean record, his guilty plea, and character references.
An interim assessment for autism was considered but ultimately dropped due to lack of diagnosis.
Barrigan was sentenced to three years in prison.
A related charge of rape was ordered to be filed away on the court record.
