According to court reports, Bannister's victim was subjected to a terrifying ordeal that forced her to make a desperate escape by jumping out of a kitchen window.
The woman, who had been in a relationship with Bannister since early 2020, recounted how she had tried to end the relationship due to his increasingly aggressive conduct.
On the evening of June 24 of the previous year, she was out with friends when Bannister, under the influence of cocaine, begged her to come back to his flat.
Despite her repeated requests to leave, Bannister refused and became increasingly threatening.
Prosecutor Sarah Slater explained that Bannister immediately shut the door upon her arrival and declared she would be there for two days.
When she asked multiple times to leave, he responded with violent threats, including a comment about killing her.
The situation escalated when Bannister struck her in the face and physically dragged her back when she attempted to escape.
