PETERBOROUGH MAN IN COURT OVER 178,000 INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A man accused of making more than 178,000 indecent images of children has appeared in court.The defendant, Jonathon Alderson of Palmerston Road, Peterborough, faced his first hearing at Peterborough Magistrates' Court on July 25.
He is charged with three counts of making a total of 178,404 indecent or pseudo-photographs of a child across categories A, B, and C.
Additionally, he faces allegations of possessing four prohibited images of a child, in violation of sections 62(1) and 66(2) of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.
He is also accused of possessing 60 extreme pornographic images depicting intercourse with a live animal, specifically a dog.
The offences are claimed to have occurred over four years ago, on or before June 3, 2021.
It is alleged that by that date, Alderson had made 904 Category A images, which are the most serious, along with 323 Category B images and 177,177 Category C images, both still and moving images.
The case was not given a plea and has been scheduled for a trial at Cambridge Crown Court, with a hearing set for August 22.
Alderson has been granted unconditional bail.
The case highlights the serious nature of the charges involving child exploitation and animal abuse, with the court proceedings ongoing.
