JAIL SENTENCE FOR JONATHAN PLUMMER, PAEDOPHILE IN WAKEFIELD
In May 2021, Jonathan Plummer, a 35-year-old PCSO from Outwood, Wakefield, was sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted of possessing and distributing indecent images of children and engaging in online activities related to paedophilia.
The court heard that Plummer, who referred to himself as the 'Vile Degrader' online, demonstrated an unhealthy interest in rape and child sex abuse images.
During the trial at Leeds Crown Court, it was revealed that Plummer had downloaded thousands of abusive images and performed searches for terms such as 'rape,' 'raping,' and 'raped.' Prosecutor Louise Reevell stated that the images, ranging from babies to teenagers and categorized as A, B, and C, were found on his personal phone, along with extreme pornographic material, including a 'snuff movie' depicting a naked, bound woman being stabbed with a sword and dying at the end.
The police seized devices from Plummer’s flat following his arrest on August 14, 2018.
The images discovered were created between July 7, 2017, and August 13, 2018.
The collection included 339 still images and 133 movies at Category A, 258 stills and 25 movies at Category B, and 1,256 stills and 42 movies at Category C.
An audit of police computer systems revealed that Plummer was also searching for sexual offence cases and other indecent images of children, despite his claims that his employment as a cyber prevention officer was unrelated to such investigations.
Mrs.
Reevell noted that Plummer was attempting to use police systems to cover his tracks.
In interviews with officers, Plummer denied any interest in children’s images, claiming he was into BDSM and that the images found were not of children, insisting he had 'many sexual preferences.' However, the court found his statements unconvincing.
Judge Neil Clark sentenced Plummer to two years in prison, imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and ordered him to sign the sex offender register for two years.
