YORK MAN SENTENCED FOR POSSESSION OF EXTREME CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES
Police found images of babies being sexually abused when they raided the home of a 59-year-old York man, the city’s crown court heard. The images on Jonathan Morley’s phone were categorized as the worst type of sexual images of children.
Morley also possessed images depicting bestiality.
He expressed remorse, saying, “I totally regret doing it,” and “I am ashamed of myself.
I am sorry.” Judge Simon Hickey remarked on the severe suffering endured by the children in the images, some only nine to twelve months old, calling the material “extreme pornography.” Morley was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, with requirements for rehabilitative activities.
He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register and subjected to a sexual harm prevention order valid for 10 years, which restricts his internet use and enables police monitoring.
Morley, who represented himself, pleaded guilty to three charges of having indecent images of children and one of possessing images of bestiality.
Police found evidence during a raid based on a tip-off about illegal material online, seizing two mobile phones and computers.
Forensic analysis revealed he had two videos and 14 pictures of the most serious category involving children up to six years old, along with images of children aged six to eight, and others aged three to six.
He had saved images in a folder called “Jonathan’s pictures porn” and had online searches indicating a predisposition toward images of bestiality and schoolgirls.
Morley was not charged with distributing the images.
He explained to police that addiction to pornography led him to discover and seek out such illegal material.
The court emphasized the extreme nature of the images and Morley's online activity, resulting in a sentence including restrictions on his future involvement with children and vulnerable adults.
