2015: JAILED: MAN WHO BEAT AND RAPED WOMAN HE MET ON DATING WEBSITE
A violent and controlling individual has received a 16-year prison sentence after meeting a woman via a dating website and subjecting her to two separate rapes.Jon Senior, aged 32, took his date to a party for their first outing.
However, upon returning to his home, he accused her of kissing another man.
He then violently pulled her hair and kicked her in the face before raping her.
During the attack, he threatened her with words to the effect of, “If you think this is bad, wait until I am finished with you,” and she later said she believed she was at risk of dying during the lengthy assault.
Her friends and family advised her to report Senior, but her fear prevented her from doing so.
Judge Peter Davies commented that Senior continued to belittle and humiliate her, a woman from Bolton who is legally protected from identification.
It was also disclosed that he shared explicit images of her with friends.
When she found out he had been involved with another woman, she threatened to leave him; at that point, while watching TV at home, Senior told her, “If you are going to leave me, then I am going to have you one last time,” before forcibly taking her upstairs to rape her again.
His controlling tendencies included telling her not to sit next to the driver if she took a taxi.
The final incident happened when she expressed a desire to leave, prompting him to pull her hair and punch her, which she later reported to police.
Judge Davies stated her police interview was moving, describing how the abuse had crushed her self-confidence.
She now lives in constant fear, often looking over her shoulder.
Addressing Senior, from Liverpool Road, Irlam, the judge warned of the ongoing danger he poses of re-offending after serving his sentence.
He was sentenced to an extended term of 16 years—12 in custody and four on license.
Although he admitted to charges of actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and common assault, he was convicted of two counts of rape following a trial.
During legal proceedings, a former girlfriend from a tumultuous relationship spanning 2009 to 2011 also testified against him, recounting violence she endured during their two years together.
