MAN WITH FANTASIES OF KILLING WOMAN SENTENCED TO COMMUNITY ORDER
A man identified as Johnathon Hunter, aged 47, was recently sentenced in the High Court in Edinburgh to a community payback order after admitting to threatening behavior and making disturbing claims to a doctor at Arbroath’s Abbey Health Centre.
Hunter claimed to the GP that he was experiencing fantasies of killing a woman and having sex with her after her death.
He also stated that he had prepared a substance he believed was hydrogen cyanide for use in these alleged crimes.
Hunter had spent over a year in prison but was granted a sentence alternative to imprisonment, meaning he will now be supervised by authorities for three years.
The judge, Lord Tyre, expressed the difficulty of the case and noted that Hunter's exaggeration about the risks he posed did not help his situation.
Hunter was also ordered to follow strict conditions, such as not installing apps without permission and not deleting his internet search histories.
His defense lawyer argued that a community payback order was appropriate, pointing out that Hunter was a first-time offender who had already spent significant time in custody.
Hunter was present via video link from Perth Prison during the proceedings.
The court emphasized the importance of learning from this experience."
