JOHN WEST FROM WALTHAM CAUGHT WITH NEARLY 3,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING SCANDAL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Waltham, scrap metal dealer John West, aged 49, was found to be in possession of an alarming number of nearly 3,000 indecent images of children.
The revelation came after police executed a search warrant at West's residence on September 29 of the previous year, uncovering a cache of 2,948 images, including videos, which he had downloaded from a website.
Of these, 945 images were identified as being available for viewing and sharing with others, highlighting the extent of his involvement in the distribution of such illegal material.
During the investigation, authorities also discovered that West had kept a firearm and ammunition for approximately 20 years, a relic from his 18-year service in the Territorial Army.
This discovery initially led to a 16-month prison sentence, which was later reduced to six months following an appeal.
West served roughly two and a half months behind bars and was released in May.
