JOHN WALTON FROM YORK SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE MATERIAL ON DARK WEB
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of York, John Walton, a 51-year-old resident, has been sentenced to 28 months in prison after being found guilty of possessing and distributing an extensive collection of child abuse images and videos.The investigation revealed that Walton had accumulated more than 100,000 illicit videos and photographs depicting the abuse of children, a heinous collection that he had obtained through the dark web.
During the court proceedings, it was disclosed that Walton’s collection included particularly disturbing material, such as videos of a baby being subjected to abuse and footage of an approximately eight-year-old girl who was restrained with cord and subjected to serious sexual assault.
These images exemplify the severity and depravity of the material he possessed.
The court heard that Walton actively searched the dark web for such material, employing 'scrubbing software' to conceal his activities and avoid detection by authorities.
His actions demonstrated a deliberate effort to hide his illegal activities, making the case even more troubling.
Walton pleaded guilty to charges of distributing and possessing indecent images of children.
In addition, he admitted to possessing prohibited images of children and extreme pornography involving an adult.
His guilty pleas reflect the gravity of his offenses and the extensive nature of his illegal collection.
Judge Andrew Stubbs QC delivered the sentence at York Crown Court on a Friday, emphasizing the seriousness of Walton’s crimes.
He stated, “Those who distribute on a large scale as you did must face a prison sentence and a long prison sentence at that,” underscoring the judiciary’s stance on such heinous offenses and the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
