KILMARNOCK MAN JAILED FOR ABUSING PARTNER AND STAFF WHILE ON BAIL
A man has been jailed after shouting abuse at his then partner and hostel staff while on bail.
John Salmon, 41, of no fixed address, pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner while also under a Restriction of Liberty Order when he appeared from custody at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last Thursday.
Salmon received a custodial sentence of 38 weeks after becoming aggressive with his then girlfriend, towards staff members at Victoria House and repeatedly shouting and swearing at them.
The court heard that Salmon and his partner had been in a relationship for eight weeks.
They were homeless and had been given the same room in the hostel.
Salmon and the woman returned to Victoria House at 7pm on September 25, and went to their room and staff could clearly hear an argument going on in their room.
Staff could hear Salmon shouting abuse at the woman and saying it was no wonder her ex-partner assaulted her.
He then told her to go sleep in the toilet before she then ran out the room crying.
Staff tried to help calm her down and she went back to the room.
He continued to behave aggressively before staff decided to phone the police.
He then became aggressive towards the staff, calling them “f***ing useless”.
He continued this conduct towards the staff for a number of minutes before police arrived and arrested him.
