BRADLEY STOKE MAN FOUND WITH MORE THAN 40,000 CHILD ABUSE PHOTOS
A man found with over 40,000 indecent images of children explained to the police that he had "seen some terrible stuff." When authorities recovered his collection, John Pick appeared distressed and remorseful, as reported by Bristol Crown Court. The 42-year-old resident of Dewfalls Drive in Bradley Stoke admitted to three charges related to producing indecent images between May 2013 and May 2015.
The court was told that some of the young girls depicted in the images were as young as four years old.
His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC, the Recorder of Bristol, sentenced him to seven months in prison on May 29, commenting, "You admitted making indecent images right from the beginning." An inspection of his two laptops and iPhone uncovered a disturbing array of child abuse material, including 413 images classified as the most severe abuse, 727 in the second category, and 42,306 in the third.
In addition, there were 325 videos in the most severe category, 179 in the second, and 87 in the third.
Pick claimed that his actions were linked to depression and a recent divorce.
His legal representative stated that he was previously of good character, had become increasingly isolated following his marital breakdown, but now has a partner, employment, and is receiving counselling.
Police noted that he had been struggling with this issue for some time, had witnessed "terrible stuff," and was distressed upon being apprehended.
