Ashgill Sexual Abuser
A resident of Ashgill has formally admitted to possessing a significant collection of indecent images involving children. John McWiggan, aged 64, pleaded guilty to charges related to the illegal possession of over 12,000 such images. The offences took place over a period spanning from November 2013 to March 2015, during which McWiggan was found to have downloaded and viewed this illicit material within his own home.
Law enforcement officers executed a raid on McWiggan’s residence, during which they seized three computers. A detailed examination of these devices revealed a total of 138 indecent images. Some of these images were either inaccessible or had been deliberately deleted, indicating an attempt to conceal the material. The investigation also uncovered evidence that McWiggan had used a hidden camera to record voyeuristic footage, further highlighting the extent of his illegal activities.
In addition to possessing the images, McWiggan admitted to posting some of the material online, which could have potentially exposed the images to a wider audience. His actions have prompted serious concern from authorities regarding the exploitation and abuse of children, and he is scheduled to be sentenced later this month. A social work report is currently being prepared to assist the court in determining an appropriate sentence for his crimes.
