JOHN MALONDA SENTENCED IN MOULTON FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND IMAGE-BASED ABUSE
In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention in Northamptonshire, a man named John Malonda, aged 34 and residing on Moorbridge Road in Moulton, has been sentenced to over two years in prison following his admission to serious child and image-based sex offences. The investigation into Malonda’s activities was initiated by Northamptonshire Police in July 2024, after authorities uncovered disturbing evidence during an inquiry into a separate matter.During the course of their investigation, officers examined Malonda’s mobile phone, which revealed a troubling collection of indecent images depicting children, as well as extreme pornography involving animals. The digital evidence also included messages that appeared to show Malonda attempting to arrange a meeting with a five-year-old child for the purpose of abuse. Fortunately, subsequent inquiries confirmed that no actual victim was involved in this case, which prevented further harm.
Based on the evidence, Malonda was formally charged with multiple serious offences, including the facilitation of child sexual exploitation involving a child under 13 years old, possession of extreme pornographic material, and the creation of indecent photographs of a child. These charges reflect the gravity of the allegations and the disturbing nature of the evidence collected.
Malonda appeared before Northampton Crown Court on February 14, where he entered a guilty plea to all three charges. His case was later revisited on May 20, when he was sentenced to a total of 26 months behind bars. In addition to his imprisonment, the court ordered that he be placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years. Furthermore, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that imposes strict restrictions on his future conduct.
This order includes a ban on using any device capable of accessing the internet unless he first notifies the police, and prohibits him from having any contact with or residing with female children under the age of 18 unless explicit parental consent and social services approval are obtained. These measures aim to prevent any potential reoffending and protect vulnerable minors from harm.
Detective Constable Harriet Stevenson, a member of SOLAR, the dedicated rape investigation team within Northamptonshire Police, commented on the case: “John Malonda demonstrated a dangerous sexual interest in children, and I am relieved that he was prevented from turning these abhorrent desires into reality. We take all forms of sexual offending very seriously, and this court outcome underscores our commitment to justice and safeguarding the community.”
It is also noteworthy that this case is linked to a separate investigation conducted by Wiltshire Police, which resulted in another man pleading guilty to facilitating a child sex offence and receiving a two-year prison sentence last November. The combined efforts of law enforcement agencies highlight the ongoing commitment to tackling child exploitation and sexual abuse in the region.
