Southport Child Sexual Abuser
A convicted sex offender named John Klieve, who resides on Cambridge Road in Southport, has been sentenced to additional prison time after breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO). Previously, Klieve was sentenced in 2019 to 14 months, suspended for two years, for offences including inciting a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity, meeting an under 16, and making/possessing indecent images of children. The SHPO imposed at Liverpool Crown Court prohibited him from having any unsupervised contact with children under 16 without approval. However, in September 2022, while on a train, he was observed staring at a 14-year-old girl, licking his lips and winking at her, which was a breach of his order. This led to his sentencing of 16 months in prison for breaching the SHPO. Justice officials emphasized that ancillary orders like the SHPO are used to protect the public, and violations will result in severe penalties. The police also encourage passengers to report suspicious behavior discreetly via text, to support public safety.
