JOHN HEALY FROM LEAMINGTON CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Leamington, John Healy, a 52-year-old quantity surveyor residing on Queensway, was found guilty of possessing and searching for indecent images of children on his family’s computer.The incident came to light in January 2018, when police investigations uncovered the extent of his online activities.
According to court records, authorities responded to a tip-off in March of the previous year, indicating that Healy’s residence was linked to the downloading of child pornography.
When officers arrived at his home, Healy was not present, but his wife was.
After being contacted, Healy returned home shortly thereafter and was promptly arrested.
During the subsequent search, law enforcement seized a notebook computer and two mobile phones from the premises.
In his police interview, Healy admitted to using online chat rooms where he discussed engaging in sexual activities with girls as well as with older women.
He claimed that the computer was a family device, but insisted that each family member had their own login credentials.
However, investigators found troubling evidence on the device, including internet search terms such as ‘free child porn’ and ‘10-year-old girl,’ which were linked to the login used by his son.
Healy accepted responsibility for these searches, explaining that his son must have left his account logged in when he began using the computer himself.
The court heard that the computer contained a total of 17 Category A indecent images depicting girls aged between 5 and 11 years old involved in penetrative sex acts, including full intercourse with adult men.
Additionally, there were 25 Category B images showing girls engaged in non-penetrative sexual acts, and 43 Category C images of girls in naked or indecent poses.
These images had been downloaded over a period stretching from October 2012 until Healy’s arrest in March of the following year.
Prosecutor Ian Windridge emphasized the severity of the case, requesting the forfeiture of the computer and one of the phones, which had been used to access chat rooms discussing child pornography.
He noted that no evidence of similar activity was found on Healy’s work phone.
The court also ordered Healy to register as a sex offender for ten years and imposed an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Furthermore, he was sentenced to complete 120 hours of unpaid community work and participate in a 30-day rehabilitation program.
In delivering the sentence, Recorder Sprawson stated, “You have made these images for your own gratification.
You have always been candid and frank in accepting your responsibility, although in your interview with the probation service you said you thought the children were enjoying themselves because they were smiling.
Viewing these images involves the continued exploitation of young children.” The court’s decision to seize the computer and one of the phones underscores the gravity of the offense and the ongoing efforts to prevent such crimes from recurring.
