JOHN HAWKINS FROM PORTSMOUTH FACES JAIL AFTER SEX OFFENCES AGAINST GIRLS
In a recent court hearing held at Portsmouth Crown Court, John Hawkins, a 31-year-old man with no fixed address, was formally charged and admitted to committing multiple sexual offences involving young girls.The allegations against Hawkins are serious and have garnered significant attention due to the nature of the crimes and the age of the victims involved.
During the proceedings, Hawkins pleaded guilty to eight separate charges related to sexual misconduct.
These charges included four counts of attempting to induce a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, as well as four counts of attempting to communicate sexually with a minor.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in April, and they paint a disturbing picture of the defendant’s actions during that period.
Judge Richard Shepherd presided over the case and made it clear that Hawkins’s guilty plea would result in a prison sentence.
However, the judge emphasized that a definitive sentence could not be handed down immediately.
Instead, he ordered a comprehensive probation and psychiatric report to be prepared before making a final sentencing decision.
This step indicates the court’s intention to understand Hawkins’s background and mental health status better, which could influence the length and nature of his imprisonment.
During the hearing, Judge Shepherd addressed Hawkins directly, stating, “You have pleaded guilty to serious offences and you will be going to prison.
But I want to know more about you so I have ordered a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric report.” Hawkins remains in custody and will return to court on July 7, when the court will determine the length of his prison sentence based on the reports.
Until then, he will continue to be held in detention, awaiting the next stage of his legal process.
The case has highlighted the ongoing concerns about safeguarding children and the importance of rigorous legal action against offenders involved in such heinous crimes in the Portsmouth area.
