JOHN GREER FROM GLASGOW ADMITS TO POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN IN ABERDEEN
In a recent court hearing held at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, John Greer, a 55-year-old man from Glasgow, pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children on his personal laptop. The incident dates back to a period spanning from November 3, 2013, to April 7, 2015, during which the illegal material was found at an address in Aberdeenshire.
According to court reports, the police responded to Greer’s workplace on April 7, 2015.
Upon arrival, Greer consented to a search of his electronic devices, including his laptop.
Subsequent analysis of the device revealed a disturbing collection of digital content, comprising 21 indecent images and six videos depicting child exploitation.
During the proceedings, Greer’s legal representative, Laura Bell, provided context for his actions, explaining that at the time of the offences, Greer’s marriage was experiencing significant strain, described as being “at the point of breaking.” She further disclosed that Greer had been engaging in excessive alcohol consumption and was feeling isolated, which may have contributed to his behavior.
Ms.
Bell emphasized that her client deeply regrets his involvement in the offences and acknowledged the reprehensible nature of his actions, describing them as “abhorrent.” Despite the guilty plea, Sheriff Graham Buchanan decided to defer sentencing until February, with Greer’s address listed as Kennishead Avenue, Glasgow, in the court documents.
