JOHN GOSLING AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN CRAWLEY

A man identified as John Gosling has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple serious sexual offenses involving two young girls. The crimes, which took place over a span of several years, have left a lasting scar on the victims and have drawn significant attention from law enforcement authorities.

Gosling, a resident of Grange Close in the Three Bridges area, was convicted on September 14 at Lewes Crown Court. His conviction came after a detailed investigation into a series of heinous acts that included rape and other forms of sexual abuse. The court heard that Gosling’s offenses occurred during the late 2000s and the late 2010s, highlighting a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior over an extended period.

The court proceedings revealed that Gosling’s victims, who are not acquainted with each other, courageously came forward to disclose the abuse they had endured. Their testimonies played a crucial role in securing the conviction. The charges against Gosling encompassed 11 separate offenses, including the rape of a girl under the age of 13, as well as the rape of another girl aged between 13 and 15. The severity of his crimes was underscored by the nature of the allegations, which involved both penetrative and non-penetrative sexual acts.

In addition to the rapes, Gosling was found guilty of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by penetration, and two counts of assaulting a girl aged between 13 and 15 by penetration. The court also considered charges related to attempts to engage the victims in sexual activities, both penetrative and non-penetrative, further illustrating the extent of his predatory conduct.

The judge sentenced Gosling to a total of 16 years in prison, with a minimum term of ten and a half years before he becomes eligible for parole. Furthermore, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed, which restricts his access to children and aims to prevent any future offenses. Gosling will also be registered as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

Detective Constable Angela Harvey from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit expressed her condemnation of Gosling’s actions, stating, “Gosling committed appalling abuse which has had a lasting impact on the lives of the two girls involved. I would like to praise them for the courage they showed to come forward and report their experiences to the police.”
