FIFE MAN JOHN GORDON ESCAPES FROM POLICE AFTER PREDATOR HUNTING STING IN INVERKEITHING

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the town of Inverkeithing, Fife, a 51-year-old man named John Gordon found himself at the center of a police operation targeting online sexual predatory behavior.

The incident began when members of the Forbidden Scotland predator hunting team, a dedicated group working to combat online child exploitation, identified Gordon after he engaged in sexually explicit conversations with individuals he believed to be underage girls.

Gordon’s actions came to light after he initiated contact with what he thought were 13-year-old girls through social media platforms.

In reality, these were adult decoys, carefully posing as minors to catch predators.

One of these decoys was Chrissy Lee, a member of the team HOOK – ‘Hands off our kids,’ who had been communicating with Gordon for approximately three months as part of an undercover operation.

On the day of the confrontation, the team arrived at Gordon’s residence on Spittalfield Road, Inverkeithing, with the operation being streamed live on social media to raise awareness and ensure transparency.

According to the Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court proceedings, Gordon initially closed the door on the team members, refusing to engage.

When police officers arrived to assist, Gordon made a desperate attempt to escape by jumping out of a first-floor window while wearing a dressing gown.

Despite this dramatic attempt to evade arrest, he later surrendered himself to the police the following morning.

During the court hearing, Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist QC was informed that Gordon faced three charges related to sending sexually explicit messages to three different victims, all of whom were adult decoys pretending to be 13-year-olds.

The messages spanned from December 17, 2019, to February 23, 2020, with specific exchanges occurring between February 3 and February 6, 2020.

The prosecutor, Procurator Fiscal depute Claire Bremner, detailed how Gordon’s online interactions included sending explicit content, using terms of endearment such as “honey,” “babe,” and “gorgeous,” and requesting nude photographs from the decoys.

Further investigation revealed that Gordon’s online activity was more extensive.

After the initial confrontation, police obtained a search warrant for his home, where they discovered six mobile phones and a mobile phone box.

Analysis of these devices uncovered additional sexual communications with two other individuals, an adult man and woman, who had also been deceived into believing they were communicating with minors.

Gordon repeatedly asked these individuals to send him nude images, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.

Gordon admitted to the charges during the court proceedings.

Sheriff Gilchrist QC ordered the preparation of criminal justice social work reports before sentencing and deferred the case until March 15.

In the meantime, Gordon was placed under the statutory notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and community groups in Fife to combat online sexual exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
