JOHN FRASER FROM GLENROTHES CONVICTED OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DUNFERMLINE
A 66-year-old man from Lochore, named John Fraser, has been found guilty of possessing and downloading child pornography over a period spanning nearly three years.The conviction was handed down at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last month, following a detailed trial in which a jury deliberated and reached a verdict.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that between March 1, 2012, and February 5, 2015, Fraser engaged in activities involving the taking or facilitating the creation of indecent photographs of children within his own residence.
The court heard evidence indicating that Fraser either took or permitted the production of such illicit images, raising serious concerns about his conduct during this period.
Despite the gravity of the charges and the conviction, Fraser appeared in court for sentencing without showing any remorse for his actions.
He continued to deny the offence, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings.
His defense solicitor, Chris Sneddon, acknowledged Fraser’s stance but also emphasized that his client recognizes the importance of the conviction and the compelling nature of the evidence presented against him.
In his statement, Mr.
Sneddon highlighted that, apart from this incident, Fraser has led a life that has been largely free of trouble, describing him as having a “blameless life” prior to this case.
He also noted that Fraser is considered a “low-risk” for re-offending and that he still has the support of his family, which was seen as a positive factor during sentencing.
Ultimately, the court decided on a community-based punishment, ordering Fraser to serve a 24-month community payback order.
This includes mandatory supervision and the requirement to complete 300 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, Fraser was placed on the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and compliance with legal restrictions.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of authorities in the region to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from such heinous crimes.
