Jan 2003 Man downloaded indecent images A “voyeur” has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for having indecent images of children at his home. Police tracked down John Fox after a member of the public became concerned about an indecent image of a child on an internet chat room link, a court heard. Investigations by police led them to an internet user going by the name of “A Perfect Gentleman”, which led them to Fox. Chelmsford Crown Court heard police raided Fox’s home on January 29 last year and recovered his computer and a number of floppy discs, which contained downloaded pictures of girls aged between seven and ten years old. It was estimated that he had about 600 separate photographs. When police raided his Clacton home again last July, they found two folders and a board covered with more pictures, which had been hidden by Fox during the first raid. Fox, 51, of Anchor Road, Clacton, admitted a total of 25 charges of making indecent images of children at court on Friday. He was given a three-year community rehabilitation order and ordered to spend no less than 132 days on a sex offenders’ programme. He must also sign the sexual offenders’ register for five years. Stephen Harvey, mitigating, said Fox was not a paedophile. He added: “They were images for private consumption.” Judge Ben Pearson described Fox as a “voyeur”. The judge added: “It is very worrying indeed when a judge is faced with this kind of case because the duty of the court is to protect vulnerable members of society and particularly children against forms of abuse and sexual abuse from adults.”
