JOHN FOWLER AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN LEICESTER AND KNIGHTON
A man named John Fowler has been convicted of sexually abusing three boys in Leicester over a period spanning from 1990 to 2014, with authorities expressing concern that there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.Fowler, aged 69 and currently residing on Gainsborough Road in Knighton, was found guilty of multiple counts of indecent assault and sexual misconduct involving minors.
The victims, now adults, were subjected to abuse either at Fowler’s residence or during outings where he took them to play sports.
The first victim came forward to police in 2017, providing a detailed account of the abuse he endured.
A second victim followed in 2019, and through a thorough police investigation, a third victim was identified and shared his own experiences with detectives in 2020.
The court proceedings took place at Nottingham Crown Court, where Fowler faced justice for his actions.
On Tuesday, September 26, he was convicted of three counts of indecent assault on a male—two counts relating to one victim and another to a different individual.
Additionally, he was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault involving a third victim.
Detective Constable Joe Parker, who led the investigation, commented on the bravery of the victims, stating, “Fowler’s victims have shown great courage both in recounting what happened to police and then again in court, where he continued to claim he was innocent.
I hope the fact he’s been convicted of his crimes—and is now serving time in prison—provides them with a degree of closure and allows them to move on with their lives.” He also emphasized the possibility of other victims: “We remain open-minded to the fact there may be other victims who may have been sexually abused by Fowler but have never contacted police.
If this is the case, then I hope today’s outcome may also encourage them to come forward.
It’s never too late to do so.” Fowler was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison during the hearing.
Furthermore, he was placed on the sex offender register for life and disqualified from working with children, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable individuals from potential harm.
