Last week, Dumbarton Sheriff Court was informed that a 50-year-old man, whose residence was listed as HM Prison Greenock, assaulted a woman by punching her on the head and causing her to fall to the ground.
During the assault, Delany straddled the woman and held her arms down with his knees while repeatedly punching her.
The court also heard that he forcibly placed a rag into her mouth and smeared faeces across her face.
As the attack continued, Delany tied her wrists together and poured liquid over her.
It was further noted that he boiled a kettle, which made the woman fear she might be scalded.
