Wrexham Ellesmere Port Rapist
In a significant development in the ongoing fight against human trafficking and sexual offenses, a jury has reached verdicts in a high-profile trial involving three men accused of serious crimes spanning several years. The trial, which lasted nearly a month, centered around allegations of sex trafficking and rape, with the defendants hailing from the towns of Ellesmere Port and Wrexham.

John Delaney, aged 33, whose residence was listed as Ruthin Road Caravan site in Wrexham, was found guilty on multiple counts. The jury convicted him of rape, sexual assault, and three counts of human trafficking. Despite these convictions, Delaney was acquitted of an additional rape charge that was part of the prosecution’s case. His involvement in the trafficking network and sexual offenses was a focal point of the trial, which detailed disturbing allegations dating back to 2011 and 2012.

Meanwhile, John Purcell, aged 31, from Crescent Road in Ellesmere Port, was convicted on three counts of human trafficking. His role in the alleged criminal activities was also scrutinized during the proceedings, and the jury found sufficient evidence to convict him on these charges. The jury foreman indicated that deliberations did not lead to verdicts on other charges against both Delaney and Purcell, leaving some aspects of the case unresolved.

Another defendant, Todd James Wickens, aged 28, of Homestead Lane in Wrexham, was also on trial. He faced two charges of rape and one trafficking charge but was ultimately acquitted of all these allegations. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on these counts, and the case against Wickens remains unresolved.

The trial revealed that the defendants had been under investigation for approximately a month, during which evidence was presented concerning their alleged involvement in exploiting vulnerable minors. The prosecution detailed that in 2011 and 2012, two girls in care, who were underage, were taken to various hotels where multiple individuals engaged in sexual activities with them. These disturbing allegations highlighted the severity and depravity of the crimes committed.

In a related development, another man, John Michael McGrath, aged 27, from Bryn Hedd, Southsea, Wrexham, was cleared of charges related to raping a girl under 16 years old during the same period. His acquittal marked a notable outcome in the broader investigation into sexual offenses in the region.

Overall, the verdicts mark a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for victims of sex trafficking and abuse in the Wrexham and Ellesmere Port areas, underscoring the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat such heinous crimes.
