JOHN DALY'S SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE IN KENT AND RAMSGATE
A convicted sex offender, John Daly, has once again appeared in court to face serious allegations related to the distribution and possession of indecent images of children.The case has drawn significant attention due to the disturbing nature of the evidence and Daly’s prior convictions.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Daly’s residence in Manston Road, Ramsgate, Kent, after discovering that indecent images had been shared from an account on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
The investigation was prompted by the retweeting of explicit clips from an account linked to his address, raising immediate concerns about his involvement in the dissemination of such material.
During the police search, officers recovered multiple categories of illicit images on Daly’s mobile device.
Specifically, they found Category B and Category C images, which are classified based on the severity and explicitness of the content.
Additionally, a prohibited image depicting children was also discovered on his phone, further compounding the seriousness of the case.
John Daly, aged 58, was subsequently charged with several offenses, including two counts of distributing indecent photographs, two counts of downloading such images, and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.
These charges reflect a pattern of ongoing criminal activity involving the exploitation of minors through digital media.
When Daly appeared before magistrates in Folkestone on March 12, he admitted to all the charges.
The court proceedings revealed that police had traced the sharing activity back to him, with evidence indicating that he had shared a Category B image online on May 16 of the previous year.
Furthermore, between May 7 and May 22, he shared 24 images classified as Category C.
The investigation also uncovered that, on May 30, Daly had downloaded a total of 125 indecent images—comprising five Category B and 126 Category C images—and was found to be in possession of the prohibited image of children.
Prosecutor Rajni Prashar highlighted the gravity of Daly’s actions, emphasizing his status as a registered sex offender with prior convictions for similar offenses.
She explained that the images were initially shared via direct messages on Twitter (now X) but were later retweeted as videos by the same account linked to his address.
The images included children in bikinis and swimsuits, and the evidence showed Daly had used a public Twitter account to facilitate these activities.
Prashar also noted that Daly had a history of offending, with previous convictions in 2010 and 2014 related to indecent images.
Moreover, he had failed to comply with notification requirements as a sex offender in 2022, indicating ongoing non-compliance with legal obligations.
Given the severity of the offenses, magistrates decided that the case was sufficiently serious to warrant transfer to Canterbury Crown Court for sentencing.
Daly was granted bail pending the upcoming hearing, although a date for the sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution of child exploitation material and highlights the persistent threat posed by individuals with prior convictions in this area.
