PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR OFFENCES COMMITTED MORE THAN 30 DECADES AGO
A paedophile has been sentenced to prison for crimes committed over three decades ago, made possible by the courage of his victims.
John Corby was convicted of sexually abusing three young individuals in the Newcastle region.
The investigation was prompted by a report from one of Corby's victims in November 2021, leading Northumbria Police’s Safeguarding Department to conduct a thorough inquiry.
In January 2022, Corby was taken in for questioning and was subsequently accused of two counts of rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of gross indecency.
Corby denied all allegations.
After an eight-week trial at Newcastle Crown Court in September, a jury returned guilty verdicts on all charges.
On Monday, November 18, Corby, aged 66 and residing on Hallow Drive, Throckley, Newcastle, was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Additionally, he was subject to a sexual harm prevention order and will be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
