A convicted rapist found in possession of indecent images of children has been given a community order. John Collis, 67, from Stoke-on-Trent, was discovered with hundreds of images, including some classified as the most serious category. Collis, who has previously served time for rape, showed remorse during the proceedings. He was sentenced to three years’ community supervision, ordered to sign the sex offenders register for five years, and required to pay associated costs. The court highlighted the possibility of rehabilitation, despite ongoing concerns regarding safeguarding.
