In March 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving John Browning, a man originally from Clackmannan, who was deported from Australia after authorities uncovered his possession of child sexual abuse images. Browning, aged 51, had been living in Australia where he was found to possess a significant collection of illicit material, including secretly filmed footage of a child in the shower. His criminal activities in Australia led to a 15-month imprisonment before he was forcibly removed from the country and returned to his hometown of Clackmannan.

Residents in the area are now expressing deep concern and outrage over Browning’s return, especially given his proximity to local schools and playgrounds. Many neighbors have called for urgent action, insisting that authorities relocate him to a safer location away from children and community spaces. One local resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated, “There’s a school and play parks on his doorstep. He clearly is a danger to our kids. The authorities need to get him moved.”

Another neighbor voiced similar fears, saying, “I have kids. We don’t feel safe. His brother carried out a shocking crime. We want him out.”

John Browning’s family history is also marred by criminal activity. His brother, James McMillan, a known paedophile who changed his name, was involved in a heinous crime in nearby Dollar in 2010. McMillan, now 47, was convicted of abducting a girl off the street, forcing her to strip, and engaging in sexual acts with her. He is currently serving a six-year prison sentence for these offenses.

Further back, Browning’s father was arrested in Moree, New South Wales, in 2015. During that time, authorities identified five victims linked to him, highlighting a troubling family history of criminal behavior involving minors. The community remains deeply unsettled by the presence of Browning in Clackmannan, demanding that local authorities take swift action to ensure the safety of children and residents alike.
