Kirkcaldy Rapist Child Sexual Abuser
John Brown and Diane Brown were found to have sexually, physically, and psychologically abused multiple children aged between 5 and 6 in their family home in Edinburgh between April and September 2006. Due to legal reasons, the children cannot be identified. During a fact-finding hearing at Edinburgh Family Court, it was established that both parents engaged in several abusive acts against the young children.

The offences included both parents touching the children’s private parts and inserting their fingers into the children's private areas. John Brown used a plastic implement to touch the children’s private parts, and at times, inserted this implement into their vaginas and anuses. The children were also made to touch John Brown’s penis. On some occasions, a plastic bag was placed over the children’s heads. The accused also performed sexual intercourse in front of the children, and in some instances, simulated sexual acts with them.

A psychiatric expert specializing in children's mental health concluded that both parents had committed sexual acts and exhibited behaviors involving coercion towards the children, constituting offences described in Schedule 1 of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995.
