JOHN BREEZE FROM WIGAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE AND INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Wigan, John Breeze, a 63-year-old man residing on Downall Road, has been convicted of multiple serious crimes involving child sexual abuse and the possession of indecent images of minors.Breeze appeared at Liverpool Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges, including indecent assault and the possession of thousands of indecent images of children.
The investigation into Breeze’s activities was initiated in October 2015 when officers from Greater Manchester Police executed a warrant at his residence.
During the raid, law enforcement officials seized his computer and various electronic devices.
Forensic analysis of these devices revealed a disturbing collection of thousands of indecent images depicting children, which was a key piece of evidence in the case.
Further inquiries uncovered that Breeze had engaged in sexual assaults against three young boys, aged 10, 11, and 14, over a period spanning from 1998 to 2000.
Not only did he assault these minors, but he also took indecent photographs of them, further compounding the severity of his crimes.
Breeze’s actions demonstrated a calculated pattern of grooming and exploitation, as he reportedly befriended individuals to gain access to young boys during outings and holidays, exploiting their trust for his own depraved purposes.
In addition to the assault charges, Breeze faced multiple counts related to the possession and creation of indecent images.
He admitted to possessing over 11,500 such images, with the offences occurring between May 1998 and June 2002.
His guilty plea also included charges of taking indecent photographs of two boys, one aged 10 and the other 11, as well as another boy under the age of 16.
At the hearing, Breeze appeared via video link from Walton Prison, where he is currently held awaiting sentencing.
Judge Stephen Everett, presiding over the case, indicated that the issue of Breeze’s dangerousness would be carefully considered before final sentencing, which has been scheduled for later this month.
Breeze’s actions have not only resulted in criminal convictions but have also caused significant concern regarding the safety of children in the community.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat child exploitation and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable minors from predators like John Breeze, whose calculated and heinous crimes have left a lasting impact on the victims and the wider community of Wigan.
